Roslyn Witter signs to Slaight Music

Toronto, October 5th, 2021.

Slaight Music is excited to announce the signing of singer Roslyn Witter.  Roslyn grew up in a musical household, and began singing at a very early age.
“She used to sing herself to sleep” says her dad, country music singer Jim Witter. “She loved music and singing since before I can remember”, he adds, “I suppose she was destined to make music a big part of her life”.

Roslyn discovered her love for country music in her teens. Artists like Taylor Swift, Kacey Musgraves, and The Dixie Chicks were always on heavy rotation on her iPod. “I really love music from many different genres...John Mayer is a favourite. Ed Sheeran and Kina Grannis. Justin Bieber. In fact, the first song I ever wrote is one called “Take Me Back”, which was inspired by the first time I saw Justin in concert. I was sitting close to the stage and he looked right into my eyes at one point...I told my dad that I wanted to go back to that moment and re- live it and he said that I should write a song about it! That’s how it all started for me!”

Throughout high school Roslyn sang in musicals, joined a vocal group that performed in and out of the school, and basically sang whenever and wherever she had a chance. Her biggest musical thrill though came just after high school when she got the chance to sing a duet with country superstar, Keith Urban, in front of 20,000 people in her hometown of Hamilton, Ontario. “The whole thing is still a blur for me”, she says. “Sometimes I still can’t believe that happened, and then I watch the performance on youtube just to convince myself that it all wasn’t a dream”, she adds.

After that inspiring performance Roslyn continued to write and record original songs in her home studio, and cover songs for youtube. She eventually caught the attention of the Slaight Music team, and is thrilled to be signing with them.
