Johnny Shay

A Toronto-based Slaight Music/Black Box Recordings artist by way of Limerick, Ireland, Johnny Shay is a singer and songwriter of substance that focuses on the human psyche.

Influenced by equals parts Bob Dylan and Charles Bukowski with a bit of Thin Lizzy thrown into the mix, Shay – recent winner of the 2019 It’s Your Shot talent contest – and former Men of Twenty front man is more interested in exploring the less conveyed aspects and areas of life, such as mental health struggles and other profound observations.

“There are plenty of clichés out there,” says Shay. “I want to be more unpredictable.”
